Together with a group of concerned residents, Despacio is helping make Sag Harbor a safer place to walk and bike. Jonas Hagen presented the results of the February 2013 Active Transport workshop to the Planning Board of the Village of Sag Harbor on August 20th, and then presented a “Traffic Calming Toolbox” to the Village Board (the Mayor and trustees) on October 8th. Following that meeting, an ad-hoc multimodal traffic committee was established, with members from the School Board, the Library, the Police Department, the Village Board, Save Sag Harbor, and others. The group met for the first time on October 17th, and began discussing possible projects for the village, such as a bike network and safer streets.
